Today, I posted a job listing for an editor position. Almost every six months, we find ourselves needing to open a similar position. However, this time, the situation was quite different from previous ones.
In just a five-hour period, the post received over 900 impressions and more than 400 applications. I had never seen such a surge and intensity of interest before. Within just five hours, we went far beyond expectations and had to close the listing.
I don’t have exact data, but I believe that editors might be among the first professional groups hit by artificial intelligence. It was already known that AI agents would gradually take a more active role in content creation, but I didn’t expect the harsh reality to confront us this quickly.
The editing profession may face even more challenging days ahead. Having once worked as an editor myself and risen from that field, I view this as a deeply sensitive issue. I truly hope a way out can be found from this turbulent period.
